September’s Breath

September morning
breath so cool,
the day progresses,
until,
sun’s rays
fill the air,
warming the slight chill.

A welcome change
from the hot summer,
warm in the morning,
hot,
till sundown
brings the cooling,
of summer night.

Spinning the wheel
365 degrees,
equal in length,
yet,
some drag so slow
while others,
accelerate past.

Rotating the wheel
24 degrees,
equal in length,
yet,
some lost in slumber
while others,
spent in wakefulness.

The song of the day
changes with the season,
long morning to night,
summer,
shorter when the cold
forces evening shelter,
or even winter sleep.

Each day’s sunrise
bright and clear,
or hidden by the clouds,
present,
like our vision
somedays crystal,
others filled with fog.

Each day the sunset
as the sunrise,
always there,
advancing,
the sunset becoming
increasingly beautiful,
as it slowly brings the night.
